Wanderer North 2025 (Derwentwater)

Wanderer North – Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2025 Derwentwater Marina, Portinscale, Keswick, Cumbria, CA12 5RF Enjoy two days late summer sailing on Derwentwater, one of the Lake District’s most iconic lakes. Overlooked by Skiddaw with the Cats Bell ridge to the west the scenery is simply stunning. We will be based at Derwentwater Marina at the north end of the lake. Each day we hope to sail to a beach for a picnic lunch. Alternatively, there are beaches with a café or pub nearby which we can walk to. We may try an informal race using the lake’s islands as markers. Booking for your boat is through the Marina’s website. The cost for 2 days sailing and boat storage overnight on Friday and Sunday night is £70. For one day the fee is £35. Try-A-Wanderer 2023

Join us at Marlow Sailing Club hosted by John and Jenny Renouf to have a go sailing a Wanderer on the Thames. This is the ideal opportunity for non- members to either meet the association or try sailing a Wanderer. Marlow SC is probably the most relaxed in the country on the grassy banks of the Thames, just upstream from Bisham Abbey. Launching and recovery is a doddle, perfect for beginners and experienced crews. Wanderer – Wayfarer Racing Weekend 2023

Our first event of the 2023 season is, as usual, the two-day race meeting over the weekend of April 22nd and 23rd hosted by West Oxfordshire Sailing Club in a shared event with Wayfarers. Wanderer (North) Ullswater

The event is based at Ullswater Yacht Club on the quiet road to Howtown on the north east side of the lake. We plan daily cruises to places such as Howtown, Aira Force and Glenridding at the head of the lake with perhaps an odd race.. With Hellevyn raising above the lake, Ullswater is seen by many as the most scenic lake. There will be a full programme of evening social events. Facilities at Ullswater Yacht Club are excellent. There is camping on site with hotels, bed and breakfast, caravan and self catering accommodation nearby. Due to planning conditions camper vans can only stay at the club on Friday and Saturday nights on the Birkett Fields, but there are two caravan sites which all but next door.   Bookings   The day rate is £30 per person a day, with camping at £20 a night (camper vans £25).
